Thailand’s Full Moon Party: Tips to Survive & Thrive!

The 9 Survival Tips for the Full Moon Party You’ll Need to Survive Easily and Party Harder

The Full Moon Party is perfect for those who like partying hard with strangers or meeting new friends. Despite being one of the craziest events in the world, you must remember always to know your limits and understand that partying hard also means partying responsibly. Read on to learn the 9 Tips that we think you need to know for the Full Moon Party:

  1. STAY AWAY FROM DRUGS: One aspect of the insanity of the Full Moon Party is the lowkey dominance of drugs. All drugs are illegal in Thailand and punishable by time in some harsh local prisons.
  1. MIND THE “BUCKETS”:  Buckets in the Party are notorious for their strong mixes made with lots of alcohol, Red Bull, and other beverages. A few buckets will get you drunk fast, so you may want to steer clear from them if you want to see the sunrise.
  1. DRINK YOUR WATER – The weather is humid and hot despite the party getting intense at night, which makes sense since you’re next to a big body of salt water. Drink plenty of water before and during the event to refresh yourself while helping you get through your “possible” hangover the following morning.
  1. DON’T GET BURNED: You’ll come across flaming jump ropes and lots of fire dancers during the Party. While showing off your jump rope skills to other partygoers is tempting, you could get severe burns. If you understand the risks, then skip away! Otherwise, you’ll be better off watching the flames at a safe distance.
  1. COPIES, COPIES, COPIES: Never bring original copies of important documents (e.g., visa, passport) to avoid losing or getting them stolen. Bring a photocopy instead.
  1. BOOK IN ADVANCE: With a fantastic crowd ranging from 5,000 to 30,000 heads depending on the time of year, booking hotels can be challenging, especially if the Party is days away. Always book your hotel accommodation in advance to secure a hassle-free vacation.
  1. DON’T ENTER THE OCEAN – Most people can get lost in the moment, and some can get TOO LOST to the point they use the ocean as their toilet during the party. Stay sanitary. Don’t go in.
  1. PROTECT YOUR FEET – Partying on the beach without footwear may seem fun, but broken beer bottles and other sharp objects litter the beach as the night goes on. Wear sneakers or any footwear that can adequately protect your feet.
  1. COMFY CLOTHES AND A FEW ITEMS: Avoid wearing your favorite party clothes; instead, put on your best swimming attire and prepare to get covered with neon paint. And bring as few items as possible. Money, your phone (if you really can’t get your hands off it), and your room key should be enough.
