Jennifer Lopez Fronts Versace Spring 2020 Ad Campaign

Who is the face of 2020? Don’t be surprised if people will tell it’s Jennifer Lopez! The year has just begun yet the legendary singer has already bagged two ad campaigns. One of them, however, was a long-time coming. After her iconic moment during Fashion Week last September, it’s only natural she became the new face of Versace

“I am so excited I can finally reveal that I am the face of the #VersaceSS20 campaign! ✨ Thank you to @Donatella_Versace and everyone at @Versace for your vision and collaboration. ✨ ✨ Photo: @mertalas & @macpiggott” Lopez gushed on her recent Instagram post. The pop star took to social media to announce that she is one of the faces for the Italian brand’s spring 2020 ad campaign. She also unveiled her images from the campaign. Here, she sports both a printed menswear-inspired suit, a revealing little black dress, and a stage-ready cocktail frock in shades of red.

The ad campaign follows her monumental runway moment at Versace’s Spring 2020 fashion show last October. The Latina superstar closed the show sporting a remake of the iconic palm tree-print dress that she wore to the Grammy Awards in 2000. Made out of semi-translucent chiffon and in a revealing silhouette, that garment helped launch Google Images at the time. This time, however, Lopez rocked a new variation with more embellishments and sexy cut-outs. She even held her train, revealing her toned legs, when she rocked the runway. As expected, clips and images of her strong finale appearance quickly went viral on social media right after that show.  “In terms of my career, the Jungle dress really marked a moment in time. To me, Versace represents empowerment and putting something beautiful out into the world. It’s a dream to collaborate with my friend Donatella again on this gorgeous campaign and to create something new and fresh out of a piece of iconic fashion history.” said Lopez after the show. In a slight nod to Google Images, the ad campaign also integrated technological imagery in an almost “The Matrix“-like fashion. Images of keyboards and search engines are projected unto Lopez as she poses seductively wearing pieces from the label’s Spring 2020 collection.

Even though Lopez doesn’t fancy herself as a model, she has slightly taken over the advertising world this spring 2020. Apart from Versace, she fronts Coach‘s ad campaign this season as well. The New York-based leather goods brand also tapped the singer to become the face of their new line. However, in their ad campaign, Lopez looks more reserved and sophisticated. In the few images both she and the brand have released, she sports a double-breasted trench coat, a billowy scarf, and a chain-strap purse. And instead of looking seductively to the camera, she’s looking down and almost looks emotional in the shots.  What do you think of Versace’s new ad campaign featuring Jennifer Lopez?
