People’s Choice Awards 2019: This Year’s Best-Dressed on the Red Carpet
Last Sunday saw one of the most glamorous nights in Hollywood, the People’s Choice Awards. From influencers to A-list stars, all types of celebrities converged at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California to celebrate who the people chose as the best of the best of the past year. Out of all the winners of the night, Jennifer Aniston arguably stole the show with her now-viral acceptance speech when she was awarded the People’s Icon award. “None of us could do what we do if it were not for all of you. And you have all been so good to me over the years.” she gushed.
Still, the red carpet fashions dominated the night. A lot of them took risks, while others went for old-school glamour. Out of all of them, here are our top 10 best-dressed on the People’s Choice Awards red carpet.
Fans can always trust Kim Kardashian-West to pack in the sexiness with her Versace look. As they say, “when it isn’t broken, don’t fix it!”. This reality TV icon, businesswoman, and law student went with a familiar hourglass silhouette in a delicate mint hue. The color helps her tan skin tone shine more.
How can Zendaya look so sexy and sophisticated at the same time? It’s almost unbelievable! In a midriff-baring Christopher Esber black dress, the “Euphoria” actress further proved that she’s a red carpet style star that’s a force to be reckoned with. This look was simply one of her best.
Isn’t it refreshing to see men in color? In vivid color no less! Foregoing the standard black, navy or tan suits, Cole Sprouse went for a monochrome blue ensemble. With his cobalt blue tailoring paired with a shimmering icy blue silk shirt, his outfit featured many dimensions of haute menswear.
Gwen Stefani continues to deny that she and Blake Griffin have gotten engaged. But it’s not helping her case that she wore a stunning dress from Vera Wang‘s Fall 2020 bridal collection. In all fairness, the dress does embody Stefani’s regal yet rebellious style, so much so fans just might possibly see her in it again walking down the aisle.
Newcomer Storm Reid might be a neophyte on the red carpet, but it looks like she’s honed her red carpet style already. Or at least, she has a banging styling team behind her. One of her first major red carpet appearances this year, the “Euphoria” star went for a slightly architectural Iris van Herpen blue dress with a striking silhouette.
And speaking of Iris Van Herpen, she certainly had a big night that night too. Apart from Reid, Kelly Rowland also went for the avant-garde designer. She, on the other hand, sported silver-to-gray column dress with bodily details that make it seem that the garment itself is alive. It’s fashion at its highest!
Youth is the time in one’s life to best have fun with fashion. Maybe that’s why Caleb McLaughlin went for a retro-inspired pleather outfit from Pyer Moss. Moss stands out for his cool and stark streetwear, so for McLaughlin to choose this designer tells fans that he’s all about the risks on the red carpet.
Another guy who had fun with his outfit was rapper T-Pain. Similarly to McLaughlin he also opted for a more casual look. But Pain also went even further by simply donning a monotone midnight navy outfit. The velvety finishes and their metallic silver details argue its nighttime twist.
A pop of color always makes everything seem happier and more joyful. And on the 2019 People’s Choice Awards red carpet, “Modern Family” star Sarah Hyland‘s tangerine Fausto Puglisi gown did the trick. With its striking bodice and the bejeweled palm tree embellishments by the slits, it’s definitely a fun and flirty look.
2019 is clearly the year of camp and if there’s one designer who wants to milk that until the end, it’s Jeremy Scott. A campy personality himself, he attended the People’s Choice Awards black tailored suit and a big red bow train. Decorated with chains and other hardware to evoke a more BDSM look, it’s a highly peculiar ensemble that deserves recognition.
