Singer, beauty mogul, fashion designer, businesswoman—Rihanna is wearing a lot of hats these days. Now, she can add magazine curator to the list. British fashion magazine i-D enlisted the singer’s help in curating their 40th-anniversary issue. With her whole vision realized in the print issue, they will refer to it as the “Rihannazine”.

See the teaser for “Rihannazine” below:

As co-curator, Rihanna takes charge of crafting the aesthetic for the issue. She also invited over 43 women across fashion, entertainment, art, culture, and activism to take part in the issue as well. Some of her notable choices include model Bella Hadid, MeToo founder Tarana Burke, and Martin Luther King Jr‘s granddaughter Yolanda Renee King. Shot by Mario Sorrenti, they all lent their voices and modeled high fashion clothes in the issue. And based on the teasers so far, the whole look centers on a serious black-and-white theme that looks almost cinematic. Riri herself wears a dramatic volumized black outfit in one of the editorials.

Most notably, this issue sees one of the few and rare times that i-D ventures beyond art and fashion. With the inclusion of activists, the milestone issue takes on a political territory. Though they’ve made content that has touched on controversial and timely political issues before, this issue highlights them more. “For me, this very special issue of i-D represents change and culture. It is dedicated to some of the people who are progressively reshaping the communities across fashion, music, art, and activism — creating a more inclusive and diverse future.” shared Rihanna. Based on what has been released so far, she achieved her vision. “Reaching this milestone deserved something monumental. Something we’ve never done before in our 40-year history. And who better to collaborate with on this special edition than the woman who embodies charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent? A woman who is a voice for change, inclusivity, authenticity, diversity and female empowerment.” shared Alastair McKimm, editor-in-chief of i-D magazine. On working with Rihanna, he added,  “Working with Rihanna we handpicked the people featured in this project for many different reasons; they may all represent different things but what unites them is that everyone featured in these pages is incredibly inspirational. They are artists, writers, activists, musicians, and women on the front lines of the fashion industry demanding change,”.

The issue, however, will likely piss off the Navy once again. Rihanna’s co-curation of i-D magazine serves as about the nth time she has undertaken a new non-music-related project in the last few years. Moreso since she promised her fans that she will release new music soon. For her part, she has taken more steps in releasing her upcoming album. She has already revealed that her record will take on the Reggae Genre. She has also registered a new song, “Private Loving” back in August. But now, she hasn’t revealed any new development, just trolling her fans.  Rihanna’s co-curated i-D 40th Anniversary issue, “Rihannazine,” will drop on January 27, 2020.
