Things are looking bright for Billie Eilish and she’s showing no signs of stopping. Garnering the most Grammy nominations this year, she has been getting big gigs left and eight. The young pop star attended iHeartRadio’s ALTer EGO event wherein she also performed as one of the night’s headliners. She brought the house down alongside Coldplay, Blink-182, and The Black Keys, among others. Before she went on stage, however, the media caught up with her talk about what she has in store next. She revealed that she has already started working on her second studio album, but that it won’t be out till 2021. “This year, no, but I will be making it this year… But the next few years? It’s coming. When it’s made. It’s not made yet.” she shared nonchalantly.
Expectations are high for Eilish to follow up her 2019 hit, “When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?“. The record topped music charts left and right, including Billboard‘s prestigious Hot 200 Albums chart. In fact, the singer became the first artist born post-2000 to ever have had an album top the historic chart. And not only that, the album broke records by topping the chart multiple times in a span of a few months. Her single, “bad guy” also went to number 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Songs list. It even replaced the Lil Nas X‘s record-breaking track, “Old Town Road“. In the same interview, she also talked about an upcoming documentary about her. She noted that they’ve filmed her since July 2018 but that she hasn’t seen any footage yet. “I’ve seen no part of it. I’m terrified. I’m freaked out. They’ve been filming since like July of 2018… Who has that much footage of them that they’ve never seen? I’m terrified.” she stressed. The documentary, made by Peabody Award-winning director R.J. Cutler, will premiere this year on Apple TV+. The film will reportedly follow Eilish as she released her debut album back in early 2019.
For now, Eilish remains busy with preparing for the Grammy Awards. With around eight nominations under her belt, she will also perform on the live telecast of the awards ceremony. So on her first-ever attendance at the Grammy’s, she might not only win her first Grammy awards, but she will also perform on stage. Furthermore, she will also write and perform the theme song for the next James Bond film. Entitled “No Time To Die,” the single will likely drop around the same time as the film’s premiere this April. Ultimately, she’s the youngest artist to ever take on this iconic gig. For now, Billie Eilish has yet to reveal any details about her upcoming album. She did say that fans should expect it in the next few years. Stay tuned on this space for more updates.
