Viva Barcelona! The Spanish city’s premie record-breaking festival, Primavera Sound, will return this year with an exciting lineup. Taking place at Parc del Fòrum this summer, the event has invited both mainstream superstars and EDM heavyweights to take to the stage. And just like last year, it’s a groundbreaking lineup that’ll likely make headlines.
See the full Primavera Sound 2020 lineup: The biggest party in Spain has locked in the likes of Amelie Lens, Ben UFO, Caribou, Massive Attack, and more. Amidst all this EDM power, however, they also booked a number of mainstream artists. Some of them include Lana Del Rey, Kacey Musgraves, Tyler, The Creator, Young Thug, and more. With over 211 artists coming from 35 different countries, they’ve once again achieved crafting a diverse lineup for this year. And it’s just the way they want it every year. Beginning last year, Primavera Sound has promised they would book a lineup that has equal amounts of female to male headliners.
In an official statement, Primavera Sound shared they are “to organizing an event that is environmentally responsible, committed to the 17 sustainable development goals of the UN and to a gender-balanced lineup, that is diverse and inclusive representing all the forms of existence connect Primavera Sound to the world,”. And this rings true with the many female superstars front and center this year. Amelie Lens, for instance, is one of the leading artists in the EDM game. And this year, she has a new EP coming up, “The Future,” that will drop this February. She will likely include it in her set for this festival. Moreover, it’s the female mainstream artists that many fans have taken notice of. Kacey Musgraves, in particular, is a unique addition. It’s not every day a music festival in Spain invites an American Country Western singer to perform. But because Musgraves has become one of the most prominent and influential stars of today. By her presence alone, she might lure in more of her audiences to find out more about the festival. And Musgraves herself has expressed her support in progressive agendas, particularly when it comes to women’s issues, similarly to Primavera Sound. She’s an outspoken feminist, which is rare in her industry.
Another striking headliner is Lana Del Rey. Not because she’s an unexpected choice, but rather it looks like the sultry singer will have a full year of festival gigs this 2020. Coachella included her in their lineup this year as well. She has performed at the iconic festival before and will make her grand return this coming April. She will also make an appearance at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Tennesee this June. It seems like, at least this year, Rey has become one of the hottest acts to perform at a festival. Primavera Sound 2020 will happen from June 3 to 7, 2020 at the Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona Spain. This year, they will celebrate their 20th-anniversary. Stay tuned o this space for more updates!
