Talk about a big bang! Eminem just blew everyone out of the park by dropping a new surprise album, “Music To Be Murdered By,” out of the blue. The record serves as his eleventh studio album release ever. And it also features some of the top artists in music today.

Prior to this surprise album drop, rumors already circulated that he was working on a new record. Fans anticipated that he would follow up 2018’s “Kamikaze,” which was also a surprise drop. And similarly to that album, Slim Shady also collaborated with other artists for “Music To Be Murdered By”. This time, though, he worked with younger artists. Here, he collaborated with Young M.A., Juice WRLD, Anderson .Paak, and more. In terms of veteran artists, he has reunited with Ed Sheeran for the track “Those Kinda Nights”. While Dr. Dre is credited as a producer on the album.

Notably, Eminem let out his inner activist in this album. He openly touches on the issue of gun safety in most of the tracks, which makes his choice of title much clearer. In fact, upon release of the album, he also premiered a new music video for his track, “Darkness,” which explicitly harkens back to the 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting. In both the video and the song, Eminem acts as if he was the shooter and the rhymes contemplate why he planned and eventually did what he did to cause the tragedy. The video is even interspersed with actual footage from the tragedy as well.

Also in classic Eminem style, many of the other tracks mention his feuds with other artists. Fans know Slim Shady to be aggressive in attacking people in his tracks. He relatively built his career off of his diss tracks against other rappers. Here, however, “No Regrets” touches on a former diss track from his Kamikaze album, “Fall”. In the latter, he calls out Tyler, The Creator using a homophobic slur, leading to accusations of homophobia from many fans. But in “No Regrets,” he seems to express his own reget in his choice of words and the Tyler, The Creator simply got the brunt of his anger back then.

Upon the release of the album, Eminem immediately trended on social media. As of this writing, he remains atop many top trending lists on Twitter. Fans have expressed their shock, excitement, and reverence to Slim Shady’s newest record. User yani (@shadyfenty) tweeted, “Eminem really has everyone triggered af with this new album it’s like 2000’s all over again lmao anyways we streaming and laughing all the way to number 1 luv #MusicToBeMurderedBy”. And user anyareyna (@anyareyna_x) agreed posting, “You can’t say this Eminem album is anything but 🔥. Each track hittin. No 🧢. #MusicToBeMurderedBy”. As per usual, many other tweets shared the same sentiment.
