iHeart Radio has finally released their list of nominees for this year’s iHeartRadio Music Awards. As expected, they included just about every big name there is in the music industry today. From mainstream favorites to EDM heavyweights, iHeartRadio seeks to recognize the best of the best in the business. Among the most popular of artists, the likes of Billie Eilish, Cardi B, Ariana Grande, and Lizzo lead with multiple nominations. Alongside Halsey, Selena Gomez, and Camila Cabello, it looks to be a big year for women this 2020. In just the ‘Song of the Year’ category alone, three out of the five nominees are female artists. Billie Eilish’s “bad guy,” Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts,” and Camila Cabello’s (with Shawn Mendes) “Señorita” are all up for the biggest award of the night. The latter is nominated for ‘Best Collaboration’ as well. Meanwhile, Best New Pop Artist nominees include Lewis Capaldi, Ava Max, and FLETCHER, among others.
As for the EDM categories, Diplo, Kygo, and Marshmello lead with multiple nominations. The three artists are up for both the ‘Dance Artist of the Year’ and ‘Dance Song of the Year’ awards. Diplo earned the latter nomination with “Close To Me,” his collaborative track with Ellie Goulding and Swae Lee. Meanwhile, Kygo’s remix of the Whitney Houston song “Higher Love” earned him the nomination as well. And with Marshmello, his hit track “Here With Me” featuring Chvrches got the recognition too. For the ‘Dance Artist of the Year’ award, on the other hand, these three are up against The Chainsmokers and Loud Luxury. Though they only got one nomination, The Chainsmokers are already looking at a great start to 2020. Apart from their new series possibly premiering this year, they already have a few shows lined up in their schedule. One that has made headlines recently is their collaboration with SiriusXM for the upcoming Superbowl LIV game. Alongside Lizzo, the radio station has partnered with Pandora to offer their subscribers two free concerts, one for each act. The Chainsmokers will take to the stage on January 29 and Lizzo on January 30, both at the Fillmore Miami Beach. Both performances are definitely must-sees for those going to Superbowl this year!
Additionally, fellow nominee Diplo will also go to Miami for Superbowl LIV. On January 31st, he will take over Miami’s famous Club Space for a special B2B set with Carnage. And not only that, their set at this event will run for ten hours straight. For this performance, it’s been reported that Diplo plans to dip his toes into house music, a sub-genre he has yet to master. This also comes as a surprise as the American producer has ventured into Country-Western music lately. Now, it seems, he’s ready to try another genre and he’s taking Carnage with him. Don’t miss the primetime telecast of the iHeartRadio Music Awards 2020 on March 29, 2020, on FOX. For now, they have yet to reveal who will perform that night. Stay tuned on this space for more updates.
