Diplo may be busy with all his new releases and gigs, but for this holiday season, he’s making time for the kids. This year, around Christmastime, he’s going all Santa Claus with a new toy drive. Partnering with Trina’s Kids Foundation, he plans to make this charitable event an annual tradition for the holidays.

“Everyone deserves a little something during the holidays. I’m partnering with @trinaskids foundation to be a small part of helping kids have a better Christmas. bring new toys and gently used clothes to Hubble studio (545 s clarence street in la) now until Saturday 1 pm for my first annual toy drive. would mean a lot to me, the team, and the family if you popped on down” he captioned his Instagram post with. By the looks of it, Diplo, whose real name is Thomas Wesley Pentz, seeks to make this toy drive an annual event. He’ll likely hold another one next year and so on and so forth.
His social media post featured a video—a PSA of sorts for the big event. It begins with Pentz, dressed as a street Santa, ringing his bell as passers-by donate their coins to his cup. He even says “bless you” to those who choose to give to him. A girl then wheels in a cart full of toys and he trades in his cup for the toys and brings them to a van. “Hi guys, we’re here at Hubble Studios. I need you to bring your toys from now to Saturday. We have a lot of toys going on. Hubble Studios. Katrina’s Kids. Crazy! Bring your toys! If you’ve got something, just bring it. Give it! It’s Christmas!” he says in the clip. Additionally, more about Trina’s Kids Foundation: the non-profit organization was founded by Vince Ricci. The young entrepreneur named it after his mother and seeks to help poor children live out better lives. The foundation usually works with funding programs and residential services to ensure that less-fortunate children get access to education and stay protected through shelters. In terms of this new endeavor with Pentz, the non-profit organization has actually held annual gift-giving celebrations for about six years now. It’s only this year where they’ll start annually partnering up with the world-renowned DJ to get more people to donate toys and money for the good cause.
Apart from this, Diplo remains busy even throughout the holiday season with all sorts of gigs and releases. In fact, next week he will travel back to Dubai to play a live set at the famous Base nightclub. He will take to the DJ booth on December 19, 2019, starting at 11:00 pm and will go through to the wee hours of the morning. Though he doesn’t frequent the major city, the American DJ has played in Dubai before. Back in 2016, he, as part of Major Lazer, headlined a Halloween event, “Fiesta De Los Muertos“. If you want to donate to “Thomas Wesley’s 1st Annual Holiday Toy Roundup.” go to Hubble Studios in Los Angeles, California. The drive will run from now until Saturday, December 14, 2019, at 1:00 pm.
