During the recent American Music Awards, Diplo shared with Billboard magazine about his upcoming releases. Though he wasn’t that specific, he did admit that most of what he has been working on now touch on country music. And this includes, in his own words, an upcoming ‘big country record’ with a secret superstar artist.  While he already revealed that one of his upcoming collaborators is Thomas Rhett, he chose not to reveal who the secret big artist is. “They’re not that country, but it’s a big country record,” he confirmed. In recent months, the EDM producer has been playing with the “Wild Wild West” tune for quite some time now. It started with his own style, wearing a very evident Cowboy-inspired style on the red carpet and in music videos. His wardrobe choices became more and more distinct that many expected that he will eventually start releasing country music himself. He then released “Heartless” featuring country singer Morgan Wallen

With Allen’s smooth vocals, the track sounded like a standard country-western song. But Diplo’s rhythmic beats and modern touch proved that he won’t lose his EDM spirit in the process. And now that he revealed that he will work with another country superstar, Thomas Rhett, it’s highly likely their collaboration will sound the same. But with this secret artist, one who he admitted isn’t a country singer himself/herself, it’s almost difficult to imagine how that team-up will sound like. Both artists are not country artists themselves, but since they’re making a track in the genre, what they’ll end up with will certainly sound interesting.  For now, as fans await his new music, Diplo stays busy with all sorts of gigs and projects. For one thing, his side-project, Major Lazer, will play at the Mad Cool Music Festival 2020 in Madrid, Spain. The EDM trio will join an already star-studded lineup that includes Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift, among others. However, despite a slot for Major Lazer, Diplo will also play his own solo set at the festival. Similarly, Major Lazer will also play at next year’s Ultra Music Festival, helping celebrate the event’s 20th anniversary. The organizers announced them as part of next year’s edition’s Phase 1 lineup.

Surprisingly, Diplo will also appear on the famous game show, “The Price Is Right,” as part of a music industry special. He will go on alongside singer Anderson .Paak and rock band Fall Out Boy. All three artists will be the second-ever musical acts who will play the iconic game show. The first was legendary band Kiss in early 2019. However, this upcoming special edition of “The Price Is Right” is to help people anticipate the 62nd Grammy Awards. CBS will broadcast both the game show and the live telecast. Unfortunately, Diplo wasn’t nominated for an award for next year’s Grammys.  Are you excited about Diplo’s new ‘big country’ track? Who do you think he will work with on this track?
