A huge company plans to join the music festival game: Amazon! The retail behemoth announced that they will hold a two-day music festival in Las Vegas this December. They’ve even already released a lineup for the upcoming event, which sees a mix of prominent mainstream artists and noteworthy EDM stars.  Amazon has staged various musical events in recent years. Though their concerts (and the like) have been relatively small and always related to their own retail events. They do, however, feature some of the biggest names in the music industry. One of their more recent musical events was their Amazon Prime Day 2019 concert back in July. It featured the likes of Taylor Swift, SZA, Dua Lipa, and Becky G. The retailer held it to promote their ‘Prime Day’ sale which also happened this past July. It was the second time they set up the concert; Ariana Grande headlined the inaugural edition last year.

But this planned music festival seems bigger than their previous events. For one thing, it’s a two-day festival, which is more than their usual one-day concerts. Secondly, similarly to other music festivals, the online retailer plans to feature other attractions in the event. Media outlets have reported that the company will put up all sorts of games, such as a video arcade center and a huge dodgeball stadium. They’ve also reportedly invited artists to show off their latest installations during the festival, similarly to the famous Burning Man festival in Nevada.  Another key difference here is the lineup. Unlike those of their previous music events, Amazon’s upcoming music festival will feature a ton of artists from different genres. They booked more than 20 artists, ranging from country singers, rock bands, and DJs, for their two-day Las Vegas event this December. Singers Kacey Musgraves and H.E.R. will perform on the first day. While Jamie XX and Gesaffelstein will provide the dance music during their sets. On the second day, legendary rock band The Foo Fighters will headline the event. At the same time, DJs Max Cooper and Flying Lotus will pump up the EDM vibes tenfold.

Though one of the announced performers, The Black Madonna, has already caused controversy for the festival. She claims that she’s furious that the company announced her participation without her having agreed to it in the first place. She went on Twitter to express her surprise, tweeting, “I absolutely denounce it and to reiterate, I have no idea what’s going on here. I have no idea what the fuck is going on but I’m about to find the fuck out and I suggest that everyone else do the same.”. She followed it up with another tweet saying, “If you were shocked I’d play for Amazon, well that makes two of us. Please be patient and while I burn some bridges. Updates soon.”.

Amazon’s upcoming Intersect Music Festival will run from December 6 to 7, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Stay tuned on this space for more updates!
