“I am so excited to share this collection of incredible images. I’m very grateful to the talented photographers and artists who contributed. We’ve been working on the book for over five years, and I’m really happy to be able to finally share it with everybody.” Rihanna shared in an official statement. She also noted through an Instagram post that Phaidon will publish her book. She captioned, “Over 5 years in the making… happy to finally share this collection of incredible memories,” the singer wrote in the caption. “Thank you to all of the photographers and artists that contributed and to @phaidonsnaps for working with me to publish my first piece of art in a new industry! Make sure you pre-order the book now on therihannabook.com 💗 #theRIHANNAbook.”
Apart from the standard book, the website revealed that the book will come in other deluxe editions. They will come with unique freebies, such as upscale bookstands, tabletop bookstand, and a marble pedestal. They’re all in collaboration with the artistic duo, the Haas Brothers. The publisher has even released a preview of what the book will look like. One of the covers features an extreme closeup of the Barbadian superstar made-up in what looks like a vintage 1950s look, complete with diamond tear-drop earrings.
As fans wait for the autobiographical book next year, they can read the star’s latest interview with Vogue magazine to know her more about her. For one thing, she didn’t hold off on calling out President Trump, even labeling him as the ‘the most mentally ill human being in America right now’. “People are being murdered by war weapons that they legally purchase. This is just not normal. That should never, ever be normal! And the fact that it’s classified as something different because of the color of their skin? It’s a slap in the face. It’s completely racist.” she expounded further.
And because of such staunch beliefs, the singer also admitted that she declined to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show next year. Most especially to support former NFL star Colin Kaepernick. “I couldn’t dare do that. For what? Who gains from that? Not my people. I just couldn’t be a sellout. I couldn’t be an enabler. There are things within that organization that I do not agree with at all, and I was not about to go and be of service to them in any way.” she told the magazine. The gig ultimately went to Jennifer Lopez and Shakira. For now, neither Rihanna nor Phaidon have said a release date for the “Rihanna” visual autobiography.
