Hold on to your caps, hip hop fans, as Rolling Loud Los Angeles just revealed their lineup and its heavy with stars. Chance The Rapper, A$AP Rocky, Meek Mill, and more will all headline the upcoming 2019 festival. The announcement came after the famous event concluded their Bay Area edition this past weekend.
For five years now, Rolling Loud has served as the go-to festival for hip hop artists. Both industry heavyweights and up-and-comers are given a solid platform to play their best music to their fans. And in contrast to other music festivals, such as Ultra Miami and Coachella, Rolling Loud Los Angeles has long been focused on uplifting hip hop music. The festival exclusively features rappers and other artists of the genre. Perhaps the only times they feature singers of different genres are when they’re featured in a hip hop track. Everything else, fans should expect, are 100% hip hop.
2019 marks a bit of a milestone year for the famed festival as well. Last May, they celebrated their fifth anniversary at Flordia’s famous Hard Rock Stadium. That time, they got the likes of Cardi B, Migos, Travis Scott, and Kid Cudi to headline the event. And this month, the festival plans to debut their New York edition with a stellar line-up of its own. Rolling Loud New York will take place at Citi Field park in Queens, featuring stars like Meek Mill, Travis Scott, Megan Thee Stallion, and more. Unsurprisingly, a lot of these hip hop heavyweights will also invade Los Angeles for its forthcoming edition as well. This time around, however, Chance The Rapper, A$AP Rocky, and Young Thug are among those who’ll go front and center. Ultimately, these choices of headliners come as no surprise, as many of these artists just recently released or plan to release new music soon. Their new tracks will likely excite the legions of fans who plan to attend. For instance, Chance The Rapper just released his first official studio album last July 26, 2019. The record mostly delves into his wedding with longtime-partner Kirsten Corely, which happened last March. The album is his most family-centric work to date.
A$AP Rocky, on the other hand, is still getting back into the groove of the music industry after his international riff in Sweden. The Scandanavian country incarcerated the rapper over charges of assault and inciting violence. After receiving worldwide media attention, as well as intervention from both countries’ heads-of-state, Sweden eventually released him. Though Rocky was later found guilty of such charges, he was ultimately fined rather than jailed again. Last August, he released his first single after the incident, “Babushka Boi“. His cinematic and tongue-in-cheek music video, which he dropped the same day, seemed to touch on his recent riff with the police. Rolling Loud Los Angeles will take place at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles from December 14-15, 2019. For more info on the event, go to their website by clicking here.
