Trust Fendi to get Nicki Minaj out of retirement. Though this time it’s a relatively different Fendi, it still alludes to the luxury brand nonetheless. Less than a month after she announced she’d retire from the music industry to start a family, Barbz is back with her rhymes with a feature on PnB Rock‘s “Fendi” single. It also features Murda Beatz

Listen to PnB Rock’s “Fendi” featuring Nicki Minaj and Murda Beatz below:

Even though the song belongs to PnB Rock, Minaj has clearly taken it to a whole new level. “Look, this is actual-… I swear, this is actually my favorite song!” the rapper started the song off with. Seconds later, PnB takes over with his suave and smooth vocals against a chill yet poppin’ rhythm. In about 40 seconds in, he spits out his rhymes, rapping about how he’d want to cover his girl in all sorts of luxury labels. Including, of course, Fendi. Barbz responds with her own verse, killin’ it with that signature “Megatron” style that she owned before she ‘retired’.

In terms of promoting the single, Minaj has taken over the reins too. The timing couldn’t be more perfect for her: she’s about to drop her collaborative sub-line with the actual Italian brand. She called it “Fendi Prints” and it’s a whole wardrobe for practically all markets, including menswear and a line of children’s clothing too. However, it also has a specific focus on womenswear. She shared to ELLE magazine that her line will especially cater curvacious women, those who share in her own body type. “I want to make clothes that make girls with my body look sexy,” she stated.  Barbz also relayed that she wants the collaboration to send a positive message to all women, regardless of their body shape. “What I want (to tell) girls is not necessarily, ‘Go and gain weight and have a big booty,’ but ‘If you do have curves, be proud of it, flaunt it—love the skin you’re in.’ As clichéd as that sounds, I’ve been really trying to teach myself that. “This is who I am; take me or leave me, bye!'” the rapper noted.

Simultaneously with the release of the single, she dropped a behind-the-scenes clip of the photoshoot for the collection. It features the rapper clad in a monochrome hot pink ensemble surrounded by models in silver outfits. Most of the clothes peeks into her collection’s style, which looks like an upscale take on streetwise sportswear. Staying true to the body-positive message she wants to convey, the preview clip also showed just how figure-hugging most of the pieces will be. Whether it’s her own hot pink look or the metallic silver garments the models were wearing, each outfit was body-con all the way. You can see the aforementioned behind-the-scenes clip on Fendi’s official website by clicking here. For now, there’s no word yet if PnB Rock will release a music video for “Fendi”. As for Minaj’s upcoming clothing line, the Milanese fashion brand plans to drop it on October 24, 2019. Whether she returns to retirement after that remains to be seen. Stay tuned on this space for more updates!
