Megan Thee Stallion‘s “Hot Girl Summer” may be topping the charts right now, but the LAPD sure isn’t feeling it! The cops shut down the rapper’s music video shoot last week. It’s a surprising turn of events as Thee Stallion’s track is one of the most popular songs today. According to TMZ, Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj, and Ty Dolla $ign were all in a private residence at Los Angeles’ Mount Olympus neighborhood shooting the video last August 9, 2019. But a call to the cops led to the shoot’s shut down. A nearby neighbor apparently called the police on them and ratted out that the crew didn’t have the proper permits to shoot in the said house. The police investigated the matter and, sure enough, Thee Stallion and crew didn’t push in the proper paperwork.
However, this doesn’t mean there isn’t going to be a music video anymore. Fortunately for the rapper, she and her people were able to secure another house nearby and shot their entire sequence there. That shoot was said to be successful and that the upcoming release of the video will still push through. Though none have shared exactly when that will be. But whenever it is, fans can expect an exciting video for one of the summer’s biggest bangers. Apart from Thee Stallion and Minaj’s skin-tight zebra-striped neon ensembles, the video will reportedly also contain all sorts of animals. Around the time she first released her single, Megan Thee Stallion didn’t confirm that she’ll accompany it with a music video. Modern-day divas have been changing the rules of the music industry in recent years. Nowadays, they’re surprising their fans with new singles out of the blue, at times without an accompanying music video or even an upcoming album or EP. In fact, Thee Stallion has yet to reveal if “Hot Girl Summer” is a stand-alone single or if it signals another album or EP on the horizon. But one thing’s for sure, it has a music video. Featured artist Nicki Minaj confirmed it by posting on Instagram of the both of them wearing matching neon zebra-print outfits.
While fans anticipate the release of the music video, Thee Stallion is already working on a new phrase. Before ‘Hot Girl Summer” became the massive hit that it is, it started out as an inspirational phrase. It eventually led to a social media movement. Now, the rapper is looking to repeat the cycle with a new phrase for fall: ‘Hot Fall Nerd’.
She shared more about it to Access Hollywood during her appearance at BeautyCon LA 2019. “Being a hot girl is like a lifestyle, and everyone knows I’m still in college. It’s gonna be a real hot girl semester, you know what I’m saying? Real Hot Nerd Fall, so I’m just about to start puttin’ on for all my school girls,” she said. Thee Stallion is set to start her junior year at Texas Southern University this fall. Are you excited to see the music video for “Hot Girl Summer”?
