Megan Thee Stallion fans rejoice! Her popular phrase that started a social media movement is now an official single. Y’all now have your big banger for the summer season! The rapper just dropped her latest track, “Hot Girl Summer,” featuring Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign. And it’s everything you wanted such a song to sound like and more!
Listen to Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hot Girl Summer” below:
The song is a perfect blend of all three of their major strengths. Singer Ty Dolla $ign provides the vocals with his smooth timbre while the two rhyming divas dominate the first and second verses respectively. Thee Stallion starts it off, rapping about how men try to dominate her but she’s not the type to back down. She talks about how she’s her own superstar and that it’s her decision whether she wants to get down with a man or just have him for fun. Meanwhile, Minaj’s rhynes talk about the real meaning of the titular phrase. That it’s not about looks, it’s about the attitude and confidence these women possess.
Thee Stallion already teased about this single earlier this week, so it’s release isn’t much of a surprise. Around the same time, producer Juicy J confirmed that he and Crazy Mike worked on the track as well. The beats in the track remain relatively smooth all throughout, even despite the cocky and confident lyrics. It’s a straight arrow kind of single that will work in a club as well as a chill summer afternoon. It doesn’t sound as aggressive as what fans might expect from the likes of Thee Stallion and Minaj, or even Crazy Mike for that matter.
As expected, the moment the rapper dropped the single it immediately trended on social media. At the time of this writing, it’s currently at number 1 on Twitter’s trending topics in the US. Fans can’t help but relay their excitement and praise the artists for another great summer song. Twitter user Kellogz (@4everKelz) tweeted, “Yasssssssss #HotGirlSummer is a fckin VIBE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” while showing a picture of a snatched wig. User a r i a n a (@__ari_____), on the other hand, posted, “Nicki and Meg did what they had to do🥺 So proud #HotGirlSummer,” with a pic of Rihanna. And user James Ogrady (jamesogrady230) defended Minaj, insisting, “if y’all say nicki’s verse was wack, you just a hater #HotGirlSummer,”.

Based on the reactions on social media, it’s safe to say these artists have another hit on their hands. The collaboration was a long time coming, especially for Minaj and Thee Stallion. The latter had openly expressed her admiration for the former before, particularly during an Instagram live session. Barbz, in turn, thanked her for the love and expressed her own favor for Thee Stallion as well.
But how will this bode well with Cardi B, Minaj’s former rival? When asked during an E! interview whether this might hurt her chances of ever working with the “Bodak Yellow” rapper, Thee Stallion was not having it. “I really hate the fact that… It’s really like a lot of the fans. They really make it seem like you’re picking sides. I really, really, really like both of them. They’re two different people, two different rappers. It’s not even the same. I feel like we need to stop trying to compare them. I love both of them, so I would definitely like to collab with Cardi too.” she stated. Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hot Girl Summer” is now available for streaming on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. For now, Thee Stallion hasn’t revealed if there’s a new album or even a music video in the works. Stay Tuned for more updates!
