At this point in 2019, you might have already seen some of the biggest movies of the year. “Captain Marvel,” “Avengers: Endgame,” “Aladdin,” and “Spiderman: Far From Home,” to name a few. And yet, summer is just in mid-season! Apart from all the partying in the hottest clubs in town, what are you to do? Well, still watch movies, of course. Fortunately, there’s still a lot of films to look forward to in the remaining days of summer. Here are ten of then that’ll generate a lot of buzz!
Point Blank (July 12, 2019)
Car chases, big brawls, and Falcon & Crossbones? Yep! These are all in Netflix’s upcoming July release. “Point Blank”. Starring MCU’s Anthon Mackie and Frank Grillo, it’s an action-packed caper that’ll only get better with every scene. If you thought these actors were already badass in the Marvel movies, wait till you see what they do here!
Firecrackers (July 12, 2019)
Summer is for coming-of-age movies, and this year, it’s all about this hyper-realistic indie, “Firecrackers”. The title rings true of the film, which is filled all sorts of emotional sparks and dramatic blowups that you’d forget this was a story about two teenagers. It just goes to show that having fun can lead to a lot of consequences.
Lying and Stealing (July 12, 2019)
Name a sexier movie pairing than Theo James and Emily Ratatjkowski. Can’t think of any? That’s cause there is none! At least, none this summer! The attractive leading actors are starring in this year’s hottest heist movie yet: “Lying and Stealing”. Jame stars as a first-class art thief and Ratatjkowski plays his con-woman girlfriend. Now if that’s not a recipe for box office success, we don’t know what is!
Crawl (July 12, 2019)
Imagine “Jaws” but in your own home! Yep, that’s what “Crawl” will feel like. A wild hurricane displaces a pack of giant alligators into a flooded Florida home, and a father and daughter have to escape before they’re eaten. Most likely, after you see this movie, you would never want your own home to flood ever again!
Lion King (July 19, 2019)
Unless you’ve been living under a rock these past two years, you should know that Lion King is premiering this month. It’s among one of the most hotly-anticipated live-action remakes within the Disney canon. Not to mention it has a stellar cast with the likes of Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino), Chiwetel Ejiofor, and of course, Queen Bey!
Once Upon A Time in Hollywood (July 26, 2019)
The Tarantino film that got at least a six or seven-minute standing ovation at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. And if it was good enough for the people in Southern France, it oughtta be good enough for you too! Wouldn’t you want to see Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt look awesome together on stage? Throw in Margot Robbie and you got yourself a summer flick to watch again and again!
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw (August 1, 2019)
Is it really a ‘Fast & Furious’ movie without Vin Deisel in it? You can soon find out in the franchise’s latest installment, “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw”. Here, Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs partners up with Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw in order to stop an international criminal from putting humanity in danger with an insidious bio-threat.
The Angry Birds Movie 2 (August 14, 2019)
Now here’s a tinge of nostalgia for you. Remember the good ol’ days of Angy Birds? Well, you can reminisce on them when you watch the sequel to its movie, “The Angry Birds Movie 2”. Here, the birds and the pigs have to unite in order to take down a mysterious new enemy that want to eradicate both races. And based on the trailer, it looks to be a wildly hilarious adventure the whole family can watch!
Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark (August 9, 2019)
Are you afraid of the dark? Then this might not be the movie for you! This upcoming horror flick has all kinds of sinister beings trying to cause havoc and kill people. From a wicked scarecrow to strange being in the middle of a hotel, summer will get a lot scarier with this scream-inducing film!
The Informer (August 16, 2019)
Who doesn’t love a good vengeance story? In “The Informer,” Joel Kinnaman stars as a former special operations soldier recruited by the FBI to take down one of the biggest drug lords in New York City. But a deadly mistake leads him to prison, with both the main villain and the NYPD out for his neck. Will he survive and save his family? Gotta wait until mid-August to find out!
