“Miley, What’s good?” It looks like Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj are at it again. The rapper had a few choice words to say about the pop star name-dropping her in one of her latest tracks. For a time, everything seemed peaceful between the two divas, but as they release new music in 2019, it seems they’re at odds with each other yet again. To start with some context, Cyrus previewed some of her now-released new songs from her latest EP, “She Is Coming,” during BBC Radio1‘s ‘Big Weekend‘ music festival last May. In “Cattitude,” the pop star rapped, “I love you Nicki, but I listen to Cardi“. Needless to say, that one line immediately made headlines. The aforementioned rappers recently settled their longtime feud at the time. So for Cyrus to name-drop them both seemed like she was asking for trouble. However, despite the provocation of it all, neither artists responded to the singer’s usage of their names. That is, until now.
In the June 21 episode of her Apple Beats 1 show, “Queen Radio,” it’s safe to say that ‘Barbz’ made her true feelings known. “A Perdue chicken can never talk sh— about queens. But I do notice a lot of Perdue chickens recently have been trying to say the queen’s name for clout. And that’s always been happening.” she vehemently shaded Cyrus. She also noted that it was the pop star who started this feud, not her. “That’s what (Cyrus) did in the first place. And then the white girl cried and made the black girl seem like she was a bad guy. In the first place, she disrespected me in a magazine article for no reason.”Now if you think that’s the end of it, think again! The “Anaconda” rapper went even further to suggest that Cyrus is now copying her. “Now you comin’ out with pink wigs, all you bi—es want to be Nicki. This is the problem,” she relayed. Minaj was referring to the singer’s recent acting gig in Netflix’s Black Mirror. Cyrus played a similarly famous pop star called “Ashley O” who wore a pink wig and sexy outfits. Her particular episode got a lot of attention, leading the streaming platform to release an actual music video by Ashley O.
Back to the feud, prior to Minaj’s response, Cyrus already attempted to downplay the damage she inevitably caused with her new song. She set the record straight when she guested at Capital FM station’s Breakfast radio show the morning after her performance. “I think you’re allowed to enjoy two artists that fill a similar lane and I always grew up collaborating with Demi, Selena and there was never any competition. Ariana (Grande) is one of my best friends. When you are authentically yourself no one can be you so you’re never worried about someone stealing your place.” she shared. The singer named-dropped Ariana Grande in “Cattitude” as well, hence, the clarification with her too.
With regards to the two rappers, she explained, “‘I think what they do is so different from each other so they both get a crown, they don’t have to share it. They’re both queens. Anytime you want to feel powerful and strong, that’s my go-to—Cardi and Nicki.”Still, the damage was done. And now that both artists are currently preparing to release new albums, it’s only going to get cattier from here. Nicki Minaj recently confirmed that she’s working on a new album though she hasn’t revealed its title and release date yet. Most likely, her new record will include her latest single, “Megatron,” which the rapper just dropped late last month. As for Miley, she’s currently promoting her EP, “She Is Coming”. She’s also preparing her seventh studio album “She Is Miley Cyrus,” which will drop later this year.
