Spain really knows how to party with EDM. First, their widely famous Primavera Sound festival was the first of its kind to feature an equal amount of female headliners to male artists. And just recently, their Sónar Festival in Barcelona just announced a new 3D audiovisual dome to make listening to EDM a more immersive experience. Now, Madrid’s ‘Brunch In The Park‘ festival just locked in a dope line-up for their autumn 2019 season.
This year, the outdoor music festival got the likes of Amelie Lens, Egyptian Lover, Adam Beyer, and more. They even booked the ‘Founding Father of House’ himself, Lil’ Louis. They’ll all take part in the festival’s autumn series, which will start in mid-September and end by late October. Located in the Spanish capital’s Enrique Tierno Galván Park, the festival is a seasonal event that will take place every Sunday. Despite its name, it doesn’t actually start around the traditional brunch time. The party often begins after lunch and goes on until the wee hours of the night.
Compared to similar events, Brunch In The Park prides itself as one of the most socially-aware festivals of its kind. Apart from their strong musical line-ups each year, they also hold a variety of activities and use their influence to highlight sustainability, uplift the LGBTQ community, and many more causes. In fact, they recently collaborated with the non-profit organization Ecoembes to promote the usage of reusable cups to avoid plastic residues. Additionally, Brunch In The Park was also the first festival in Madrid to participate in the city’s “No Is No” protocol. It’s a law that protects women (and men) from sexual harassment. Out of all the artists they got this year, Amelie Lens is one of the most buzzworthy. She just released her latest EP, “Hypnotized,” late last month, which includes her well-received techno track, “Access“. She’s also invited to a whole host of music festivals within the year. Two weeks from now, she’s set to play at Barcelona’s Sónar Festival alongside other EDM greats, Floating Points and Disclosure. Right after that, she’s off to her homeland of Belgium for Tomorrowland 2019, celebrating their 15th anniversary. And finally, Movement Torino also locked in the Belgian DJ for their 2019 edition in late October. Meanwhile, German DJ Paul Kalkbrenner is also killing it in the game right now. Much like Lens, some of the world’s top music festivals booked him for their own 2019 lineups as well. Next week, the top EDM star will perform at Venice’s Home Festival, replacing the likes of Aphex Twin, Pusha T, and more. The latter DJs were supposed to headline the said event but canceled their appearances due to safety issues. And for their second-ever edition, Malta’s ‘Summer Daze‘ music festival locked in Kalkbrenner as one of their premier EDM players. Here, he’ll play alongside some of the industry’s greats, such as David Guetta and Loco Dice, among many others. Brunch In The Park Madrid’s Autumn series will run on all the Sundays from September 15 to October 20, 2019.
