There’s a lot to look forward to at Glastonbury 2019! One of them is a new movie. At the annual music festival at Worthy Farm, a film all about the party island of Ibiza will premiere. It’s the highly anticipated movie collaboration between director Julien Temple and Norman Cook, or more famously known as DJ Fatboy Slim. The film chronicles around 2000 years of dancing on the Mediterranean island.
“Julien showed me what was beneath the surface, beneath that rich ochre earth. There are stories you wouldn’t believe: Phoenicians, Romans, Beatniks, even Nazis all dancing to the unique rhythm of a magic island,” shared Cook. Subsequently, he took charge of creating the soundtrack for the ‘silent’ film. “How do you tell the story of one of the most colorful and unique islands on this planet? The answer is to chew up the rule book, spit it out and set the resulting chaos to the most eclectic and evocative music the Island’s history has to offer.”
Additionally, Temple also noted the island’s affinity for music. “From the jazz of the beatniks, the psychedelic guitars of the 60s through to the electronic drum pulses of the clubland era, the island’s extraordinary journey through time to the outer limits of the tourist universe has always been powered by music.” The director will show the film at Cineramageddon his drive-in installment at Glastonbury. Simultaneously, the movie will also screen in selected cinemas across the UK.
