BigCityBeats is taking EDM to above and beyond! This August, they plan to present the first ever DJ set live from outer space. With the help of the European Astronaut Corps, they’re sending an astronaut to space to become the first man to ever play EDM live from outside planet Earth. The performance will be broadcasted in one of BigCityBeats’ famous WORLD CLUB DOME events this year.
Award-winning ESA astronaut Luca Parmitano takes the honors of becoming the first ‘DJ’ to ever play a live set from space. On July 20, 2019, he’ll depart from the planet and head on over to the International Space Station for this historic performance. Though he’s not a DJ himself, he’s been taking an intensive music production course provided by BigCityBeats. They got German DJ Le Shuuk to teach Parmitano the art form and to ensure that the astronaut won’t miss a single beat during such a significant event. It will stream live on August 13, 2019, during BigCityBeats’ WORLD CLUB DOME Cruise Edition. Around 3,000 party animals will watch the jaw-dropping set unfold as the luxury cruise takes them around the Mediterranean Sea.
Parmitano’s mentor, Le Shuuk, was the perfect choice to teach the astronaut how to DJ. In fact, he himself is no stranger to playing live sets in the most unorthodox of places and settings. Back in March 2019, the German DJ participated in BigCityBeats’ WORLD CLUB DOME ZeroG 2.0 flight. In it, he performed a live DJ set at Zero-Gravity in a luxury airliner filled with celebrities and astronauts alike.

Are you ready for a live DJ set from space? It’s bound to be an extremely historic precedent, not just in the EDM community but in the entire music industry around the world. This is one for the history books!
