One of the world’s most famous music festivals is reaching a huge milestone next year. Glastonbury will celebrate their 50th anniversary this 2020, and to commemorate it, they’re releasing a big book this coming October. It will feature the origins of the annual event, a behind-the-scenes look of all the action, and tales shared by countless stars that have performed in the festival. They include Jay-Z, Adele, Dolly Parton, Noel Gallagher, and The Chemical Brothers, among many others. Emily Eavis, co-organizer of the event, shared more about this new endeavor in an interview with The Guardian. She stated, “We felt now was the time to put all of our memories and stories together in one place. It’s been a total joy to look back through piles of old photo albums and scrapbooks and to reflect upon what it meant at the time, and the incredible evolution of the event.” Her parents, Michael and Jean Eavis, started the festival in their own farm back in 1970 and ran it until Jean’s death in 1994.

The book will detail lots of noteworthy stories that surround all five decades of the festival. They include their tumultuous political affiliations in the 80s, The Chemical Brothers’ historic headlining set in 1994, even the Noel Gallagher vs. Jay-Z debacle of 2008.

Moreover, prominent artists such as Banksy and Kurt Jackson will contribute some of their works for the book too. Stanley Donwood, famous for his Radiohead collaborations, created the cover art for the piece.

The Eavis family will publish the book on October 31, 2019. Meanwhile, the 2019 Glastonbury Festival will take place this June 26, 2019, up until June 30, 2019. Some of it headliners include Kylie Minogue, Miley Cyrus, and Stormzy.
